The Sturgeon House does not schedule regular open hours all year long. Since the start of Covid-19 meetings have been cancelled, or only scheduled once per season. When scheduled they begin at 7 p..m. The public is invited to attend and admission is free.
Other open hours include the Open House during the Memorial Weekend. This year the Sturgeon House will not be open on Sunday of that weekend. Monday (May 31) open hours are 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Representatives of the French Creek Reenactors Association have become an important part of our Memorial open house and will be available again this year on the side yard. Reenactors are knowledgeable and have a great deal to share, either in information or in exhibits. All reenactors welcome visitors and questions!
Often we are privileged to have World War II reenactors on the side lawn during a weekend in the summer. Watch for dates on this event. The Sturgeon House will be open those same dates and times.
As always, the Sturgeon House hosts a Christmas at the Sturgeon House the first full weekend of December. The House is decorated for Christmas, the Misery Bay Dulcimers provide seasonal music for a few hours each day and we serve wassail and cookies to all who attend. This is also the opportunity to pick up pre-ordered door wreaths. Hours for this two-day event are: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Noon to 4 p.m. As always, the public is invited to attend and admission is free.
Watch the West County News Journal for our monthly column, this website and our Facebook page- Facebook/SturgeonHouse/ for information on upcoming events.
If you would like to do research or take a tour of the house, please call there, (814) 474-5855, leave your name and number and we will be happy to arrange your visit.
Can I get email updates of your events
Hello, Jan Schmitt,
I can send you a “press release” each time we have an event or open house. Or it can be a shorter, informal notice. Your choice. I guess that means the answer is yes, we can send you updates.
