At long last after a year’s worth of planning, the kick-off event is here!  On Saturday, August 17, 1968, the queen who will reside over all the festivities is chosen.  It was a tough choice, for the contestants for the beauty pageant were a “bevy of beauties” – –  Sheila Arthurs, Bonnie Getz, Gail Loper, Amber Lund and Arles Mills.

It was Gail Loper who wore the crown that night at the Centennial Ball in her honor.  The ball was held at the Holy Cross Auditorium begining at 8 p.m.  Admission was $3.00 per couple.

Gail would reside over all the centennial events the coming week.

Activities would begin again on Thursday, August 22nd.
